I am a graduate teaching assistant in mathematics at the University of Kansas. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics degree from Missouri State University in 2016, graduating summa cum laude in the Honors College. I received my Master's degree from the University of Kansas in 2018. Generally, I am interested in commutative algebra and algebraic topology.
Outside of academia, I enjoy music composition, music criticism, exercise, and outlandish humor. Sufjan Stevens -- in addition to many other musicians -- changed my life. For the interested reader, you can follow my musical escapades on Rate Your Music and Last.fm via the links below. For the more adventurous, you can listen to some of my compositions via the links below. Particularly, I am a trained jazz drummer and freelance indie rocker with the (flawed) ability to play many instruments -- including the (bass) guitar, ukulele, and piano -- and I like to maintain total control of my musical output in every aspect of production. Because of this, most of my music could be considered lo-fi, but it is all very genuine and earnest -- which I think are very important and typically rare qualities.

"Patience. Belief. Love. We are brothers Zach and Dylan Beck. Heidi Klum's Bangs began as a bedroom psych folk project in early 2009 and soon evolved into a full-on, multi-instrumental indie rock act in the vein of Neutral Milk Hotel, Circulatory System, Beirut, and Sufjan Stevens. With our ethereal instrumentals and stream-of-consciousness lyrics, we create a musical universe unlike any." https://heidiklumsbangs.bandcamp.com (You can also find us on Spotify.)
"Ed Pexing works as an instrumental hip hop producer and hype man, churning out cloud and trap rap beats for himself and close friends. Currently, Pexing focuses on tracks for various artists by demand. Recently, Pexing formed SpellChek with Springfield music guru Johan Collins." https://edpexing.bandcamp.com

"Combining witchy, searing beats and sizzling vocals, SpellChek is Springfield's hottest up-and-coming R&B project." https://soundcloud.com/spellchek-226303653
