The beauty of mathematics only shows itself to more patient followers - Maryam Mirzakhani 1977-2017
I am a university professor in the field of management science and business analytics with a somehow solid background in math. I spend some of my spare time here because I enjoy solving math problems, helping others, and most importantly learning new things from wonderful people who are members here and share their knowledge voluntarily, though they are mostly anonymous and have strange profile photos and user names :)
I really like the following quote on the beauty of math (a part given above) from the first genius lady who won Fields Medal, unfortunatly died very young:
I don’t think that everyone should become a mathematician, but I do believe that many students don’t give mathematics a real chance. I did poorly in math for a couple of years in middle school; I was just not interested in thinking about it. I can see that without being excited mathematics can look pointless and cold. The beauty of mathematics only shows itself to more patient followers.
