this is an assignment problem in calculus on manifolds class

the part (a) is little bit straightforward than part (b)

so i have completed the proof of (a) but (b) was hard to me

to me the (b) seems to be an application of inverse function theorem

but the "U" really bothers me. how can i solve this one?
