Can anybody explain the differences between algebraic error and geometric error in image processing?

I am trying to understand DLT (direct linear transform) algorithm to calculate homography that minimizes algebraic error. This error is not geometrically meaningful.

I have heard geometric error must be minimized to improve the calculated homography. I do not get the concept behind each.
