In Magic the Gathering Arena opening hands of 7 cards are drawn invisibly three times and the hand which best matches the land/card ratio is chosen as the actual opening hand. The user may choose to mulligan if they don’t like their hand and gets a new hand of 6 cards which follows the same process. Thereafter the cards are drawn regularly.
Typically decks now a days have 60 cards of which around 18 land for aggro, 22 for midrange and 27 for control.
Am wondering how this effects the hyper geometric probability on how often the actual lands are drawn and how it would be calculated?
I’m also curious on if the algorithm was changed so that it favors the hand that least matches the land/card ratio is chosen instead on each opening and mulliganed hand.
