I am required to derive an expression for $∇^2 \eta$ and it is given that $∇^2 cos\eta=\zeta cos\eta$ and $∇^2 (sin\eta \hat e_{\rho})=\zeta sin\eta \hat e_{\rho}$ where $\eta$ and $\zeta$ are scalar fields and I don't know how to tackle the question. Any help would be appreciated. We also know $\hat e_{\rho}$ is radial direction of cylindrical coordinate which is $\hat e_{\rho}=\hat e_x cos\phi+\hat e_y sin \phi$ .
