Using variance and expected value calculate...

A program draws cards from a virtual deck (without replacement). If the card is red, the program adds the standard value of the card to the total. If the card is black, the program prints the total and quits. What is the average number of additions performed by the program?

I'm not entirely sure where to even begin. The expected value would be $.5 \cdot (\text{number of draws})$ and the variance of drawing a red vs a black would be $.0249904 \cdot (\text{number of draws})$?

Any guidance is welcome. Thank you in advance.
