What would be nice references to learn about homological algebra in the context of abelian categories?

I have already some background in category theory however that would be my first contact with abstract homological algebra (although I have already studied some of it in particular categories).

Thanks.

  • $\begingroup$ Well, there is some intersection although those answers does not answer mine.. $\endgroup$ – PtF Dec 21 '15 at 19:56
  • $\begingroup$ Why not ? Abelian categories are treated in these books. $\endgroup$ – Dietrich Burde Dec 21 '15 at 19:57
  • $\begingroup$ It sounds like @PtF wants a reference that doesn't focus on a particular abelian category (e.g. modules or abelian sheaves). In that respect Grothendieck's Tohoku paper (French original and English translation) come to mind. $\endgroup$ – Takumi Murayama Dec 21 '15 at 23:51
