Jun9 accepted Probability, choose a box and then take exactly two white balls Apr5 accepted Probability that at least $1$ out of $10$ random numbers between $1 \ldots 1000$ is not divisible by $7$ Apr5 comment Probability, choose a box and then take exactly two white balls You are right, thanks! Apr5 comment Probability that at least $1$ out of $10$ random numbers between $1 \ldots 1000$ is not divisible by $7$ But isn't $floor(999/7)=142$, so it should be $142/1000 * 142 / 999$ etc., no? Apr5 comment Probability that at least $1$ out of $10$ random numbers between $1 \ldots 1000$ is not divisible by $7$ Ahh, I got it. Thanks! Apr5 comment Probability that at least $1$ out of $10$ random numbers between $1 \ldots 1000$ is not divisible by $7$ @Sam OK, so the answer is $1-(floor(1/7))^2$? Even if they are different numbers? Apr5 comment Probability that at least $1$ out of $10$ random numbers between $1 \ldots 1000$ is not divisible by $7$ @Sam There is no 0 in my set. If my answer is not correct, can you please explain how to solve? Because I have no idea how. Apr5 comment Probability that at least $1$ out of $10$ random numbers between $1 \ldots 1000$ is not divisible by $7$ @TMM: I choose the first number: 1000 numbers to choose from, probability of that number being divisble by 7 is $(1000/7)/1000=1/7$. I choose the second number: 999 numbers left to choose from, probability of that number being divisble by 7 is also $(999/7)/999=1/7$, and so on. My answer is still correct, no? (I know about rounding down the fraction) Apr5 awarded Editor Apr5 revised Probability that at least $1$ out of $10$ random numbers between $1 \ldots 1000$ is not divisible by $7$ added 4 characters in body Apr5 comment Probability that at least $1$ out of $10$ random numbers between $1 \ldots 1000$ is not divisible by $7$ No, 10 different numbers are chosen. But since the probability is always $1/7$ no matter how many numbers I can choose from, the answer is the same, no?
