@حكيمالفيلسوفالضائع That's more or less exactly what I mean --- negative numbers provide useful tools, but they don't 'exist'. Charge is an abstraction and a model and a framework where we use positive and negative reals to model physical events, but we could have invented a model system where we represented charge with, say, an isomorphism with angular velocity (instead of saying +/-e, you'd say counterclockwise and clockwise e --- you can add them just the same), and you see that negative-ness is not an inherent property of the physical electron but of the system we used to describe it.
