comment What's the meaning of $\mathbb{N}_0,\wedge$
In Belgium $\mathbb{N}_0$ means $0$ is excluded. That might suggest the first possibility is meant?

So the question, without context, is ambiguous?

comment What's the meaning of $\mathbb{N}_0,\wedge$
I can confirm that $\mathbb{N}_0$ is meant to be $\{1,2,3,\dots\}$. So gcd would be the most common interpretation?

@arbautjc, the previous lecturer teaching that course said that, too, but I'm not able to contact here anymore... (alas)

@DanielFischer, I guess we found a not-so-universal part of the mathematical language...

@par. There hardly is a context. The exact exercise is to consider the magma $\mathbb{N}_0,\wedge$ and to find out what properties the operation has.

@SamiBenRomdhane, I guess you mean without 0? (Or at least that's the common meaning in my country)

comment For a stocks trader, given the probability of having a profitable day, how to determine probability of having a profitable year?
How many profitable days are needed to make the year (or month) profitable?

comment Practical context for a quadratic equation with negative discriminant.
OK, I understand that, but that's an important issue when you're studying quadratic equations, where you can find 0, 1 or 2 solutions and interpret that. What I'm trying to find is a complex solution to a quadratic equation, that has meaning in real life.

comment Practical context for a quadratic equation with negative discriminant.
I'm aware of the historical context of complex numbers, but we're obliged to teach our pupils 'questions that involve solving quadratic equations with negative discriminant'. If i have to do so, I'd rather look for real-life examples (perhaps only used as an example if they are too difficult), than limit myself to 'abstract mathematics' questions...

I see that, but I don't see a real-life application of the solutions of the quadratic equation this way.

comment Principle of inclusion and exclusion problem
Probably my English is failing, but i don't see whether 2 bottles of wodka are allowed next to each other? Is this problem about no 2 bottles of the same kind next to each other or about not clustering one kind?
