I work at CERN in the ALICE experiment. I am in charge of the Data Quality Monitoring software. It is developed in C++ on top of ROOT (root.cern.ch). It uses a publisher-subscriber paradigm to achieve scalability and stability of the dozen of agents exchanging hundreds of objects every second.

How to interpret standard deviation of samples with different means? @MichaelChernick In my case I am interested in the amount of data sent by different detectors during a set of experiments. The detectors are very different and thus their data size, however I am interested to know if their standard deviation is the same, i.e. they behave the same way amongst the experiments. |
