@Fylos I think the OP is asking something a little different. As far as I can tell marais wants to know if $X$ and $Pois(E(X))$ are very similar when $n$ is fixed but very big.

@joriki, how about $a=6$, $c=3$, $m=7$ and $X_0 = 1$. This has period $2$ doesn't it? I.e. the sequence $1,2,1,2,1,\dots$.
