@Lubin Yes, but note that $\pi$ is decimal, but not an integer when multiplying by a power of ten.

What did you do to get $(-4)^2 - 4 \times 3 \times (m^2 + 1) =0$ from $(m^2 + 1)x^2 -4x +4 = 1 \implies (m^2+1) x^2 - 4x + 3 = 0$?
