I edited the question to be exactly what the question is. How would you solve this if you knew the previous answer was not what the professor was wanting? sorry edited again

He said I went off on a tangent but did not actually solve the problem. I think he said something about treating the two diracs separately but I could be wrong.

Apparently this answer was wrong. I think I might need to take Fourier transform twice, and treat each dirac separately. not sure though.

also, could you clarify that it is ft and not f(t) and that its $(x/\lambda)$ - ft

If you dont mind, I would appreciate the complete solution. I really appreciate your help, I've been trying to solve this for hours and have been having so much trouble.

Are you sure can solve the Fourier transforms separately? And I think the fourier transform is wrt t, not x, so I don't think they would just be 1 anyways would they? Assuming what you have is right, what would be the next steps?. It is hard for me to easily see how to proceed.

@joriki Do you see how to solve the PDE then? I am guessing I can use Fourier Transform perhaps to get rid of one of the delta's?

comment $2^{nd}$ order PDE: Solution
@Leucippus I think there is a mistake in your solution. When you change B.C.'s and you have -F_o you have that it equals phi, not theta which I think it should be right/

@Leucippus I am still lost on the 2n+1 at the end
