I taught myself Calculus in 9th grade, and this kick-started everything.
Allen Hatcher's recommendation got me accepted into Cornell (I taught myself Algebraic Topology through his book in 12th grade, with some email correspondences). I majored in Engineering Physics, while doing experimental research on gravity. Luckily, Ken Brown took me under his wing and provided weekly meetings to understand Group Cohomology.
I started my PhD in experimental atomic physics at Berkeley, but quit to do math. I am now a 2nd-year student of Michael Hutchings, wooo! My interests lie in gauge theory and smooth-manifold invariants.
