I'm a computer scientist but I wish I was a mathematician. (If I could do it all over again I'd study mathematics at the BSc level instead of engineering.) It's admirable how engineering texts draw from physics and physics texts draw from mathematics and mathematics from no other source but mathematics.

Ditto @Thomas. I too was terribe at maths in secondary school but in 2 short years, at my mother's insistence that I take additional mathematics classes, maths went from my worst to my best subject. The only one I scored the hightest possible grade in. I now have a PhD in computer science and I still love mathematics and frankly regret that I studied engineering and not maths for my BSc.
