I have an objective function and I am trying to minimize it. I noticed that if the objective function is far away from the "solution" it decreases (convergence). Once I start close to the solution the objective function falls in a large plateau. I am using steepest descent method. Does anyone know why this happen? or Does anyone know how to overcome this?
