# What is the best Mathematical Insight you have had? - PLEASE MOVE TO META [closed]

I've used this site a lot but am new to the actual forum. Basically, I am wondering if we could collect a list of mathematical insights / explanations / neat proofs etc. that people on this forum have had over the years. I think it would be easiest to place them in a public document like this: https://www.writelatex.com/935832pbjbpc#/2140522/

Note that I have created some sections and subsections, and demonstrated how to enter an example with one of my own.

I want LOTS of examples, so please spread the word about this! Obviously I am not asking for anything huge, but I think it would be neat if lots of people all contributed one or two items to the list.

There are no specific plans in mind for using the paper. I was planning to just leave it online for future users to read and/or edit, but if someone wanted to use it for educational purposes or anything related that would be fine with me.

If you want credit for your contributions, of course include any relevant information in the document as you see fit. Also, please make any modifications to the overall structure that would seem helpful, as long as you don't delete or drastically alter someone else's work.

NOTE: the $\LaTeX$ updates very slowly on the page, so I would recommend typing up your piece in a different medium and then pasting into the master copy. Or if somebody knows of a better way to do this (google docs?) they could move the master copy into that. Alternatively, post your contribution as an answer to this question and I will handle putting it into the document myself (and that would help to keep this question live).

Have fun and let's spread knowledge - cheers!

• This question does not appear to be about math within the scope defined in the help center.
If this question can be reworded to fit the rules in the help center, please edit the question.

This post appears to be off-topic because it is not a mathematical question. –  Antonio Vargas Apr 8 at 22:17
@AntonioVargas It's a soft question, asking for examples of mathematical insight and ingenuity. People don't have to contribute if they don't want to. –  Cory Apr 8 at 22:19
@Cory Yes, that's true. However, this forum is meant for mathematics-related questions, and is therefore off-topic on this forum. This will probably just bring spam into the Latex document you've created, too. –  Sanath Devalapurkar Apr 8 at 22:21
@AntonioVargas Wouldn't you like to read through a document like that? :) I really don't see how this is anything but "mathematics-related"... if it's not maths then what is it? –  Cory Apr 8 at 22:25
@Cory It is mathematics-related, but it does not pose any mathematical problems. I think it would be a better fit at meta.math.SE (I voted accordingly). –  dtldarek Apr 8 at 22:47
