If I have 10 buckets each with a capacity of 6 blocks and I am adding blocks to the bucket without taking them out how can I work out how many blocks I can process while having x% chance of filling a bucket. There is an equal chance (y%) of each block I process going in to a bucket.

Can you determine what y must be, given 10 buckets, each of which has an equal chance that any given block processed will placed in it? That's a start...I'm assuming you want to express, in terms of x, the number of blocks you can process before/until filling a bucket? It's not entirely clear what your asking, given what you wrote (and what you didn't write). – amWhy Jun 30 '11 at 20:29
If I understand correctly, then given $x$, you want to know how many blocks you can process before the chance of a block becoming full exceeds $x\%$. Right? It would perhaps make more sense to ask for the number of blocks you can process before the chance of a block overflowing exceeds $x\%$, but never mind. Also $y=10$. – TonyK Jun 30 '11 at 22:03

So I know y = 17% but I want to be able to see for different values of X how many block I can process. I am willing to accept a value of 1% for X and want to know how many blocks that means I can process. I am also keen to see how the number of blocks I can process changes with higher values of X.
