All! Does anybody know who is author of algorithm described here and is the proposed solution correct?

Sounds right, but it would indeed be slow. You might want to look into Jeff Tupper's work as well. – J. M. Apr 12 '11 at 12:41
I suspect this algorithm is too obvious and well-known to have any specific author. It's OK, but there are better ones; see for example… and . – joriki Apr 12 '11 at 12:43
