vertex (0,0); axis of symmetry the y-axis containing the point (2,3) I need to get the equation out of this, I don't know what an axis of symmetry is and it isn't defined in my book so I have no idea how it relates to the equation.

What is an axis? What is symmetry? What is a parabola? What is the vertex of a parabola? The answer to your question lies within the definitions. – cardinal Apr 9 '11 at 3:21
You would assume so but the answer isn't symmteric or anything. I get what the intended idea of an axis of symmetry could be but when applied it is not symmetric as far as i can tell. – user9301 Apr 9 '11 at 3:22
Maybe I just need to quit math while I am ahead, this isn't at all logical. – user9301 Apr 9 '11 at 3:27

I'm closing this question as providing too little explanation and motivation. – Akhil Mathew Apr 9 '11 at 3:49
