If I have $2$ functions $f(x)$ and $f(y)$, may I determine a function $f(x,y)$? My purpose is to determine $\max(f(x,y))$ if I know $f(x)$ and $f(y)$.

Thank you!

PS: Sorry for my english!

May I ask to add me any example here. It is good to know your conditions for two functions and... – Babak S. Jan 12 at 8:11
I have an experiment. miu(s) and miu(o2) and I want to determine miu(s, o2), where miu = growth speed. s = substrate concentration and o2 = oxygen concentration. – Iulian Jan 12 at 8:22
I have 12 experimental tables with OD(s, time), where OD is optical density. – Iulian Jan 12 at 8:27
The experiment is growth of proteins on a methanol substrate. – Iulian Jan 12 at 9:08
With passage of time, the concentration of substrate and oxygen is decreasing(substrate to zero, and o2 to 10% from 100% and the process is terminated). – Iulian Jan 12 at 9:11
