An homework question gives 40 values, between 104 and 152, and ask us to divide them into classes and draw a relative frequency plot in the form of an ogive. I did this on paper.

Then it asks:

Treating the cumulative relative frequency plot as the Cumulative Probability Distribution of an unknown continuous random variable, estimate the median of this random variable from the plot.

How can you treat a choppy ogive like a smooth continuous random variable and perform operations on it? Does anyone know what this might mean?
