I am having a hard time wrapping my head around this operator. Can anyone give me an example of how it works and why it is useful? Thanks

Possibly once you define it we can help... "sweep operator" does not even have a Wikipedia entry, so it must be pretty obscure. – rschwieb Sep 25 '12 at 16:43
